This morning, I awoke at 3 am to pray.
By 3 am, the date was April second.
During the middle of my prayer I could not stop thinking about April Fools.
April Fool's Day is the day in which people tell a lie, and then to any person who believed them, they yell “April fools!” and have a laugh.
But who is really the fool?
The one who believed a lie, or the one who told a lie in the first place?
Years ago, in two thousand and twelve, I played an April Fools joke on the audience of Bold & Determined.
Later in the day, I claimed “April Fools!” but I was the fool that day.
Here's what I really said to the audience: “You were a fool for believing me.”
That's what April Fools Day is for, to expose the fools who tell lies and laugh it away as a joke.
If you tell a lie, what you are called is a liar.
If you tell a lie one day a year, even if you laugh about it later, what you are is a liar.
“April fools! You should have never believed me because I am a liar!”
I bring up the April Fool's Day “joke” because yesterday was the first of April.
I was fasting this day and when you fast you become very sensitive to topics you previously were cold to.
On this day, I opened a video sharing site to see what some of the Christian brothers and sisters had to say.
Not knowing that it was April first, I happened upon a video of a Christian brother who made a very serious claim.
I won't say what or who, but halfway through the video, he yelled “April Fools!” and immediately I lost trust in the brother.
Telling a lie isn't a joke, it's a lie.
When you play an April Fool's joke on people who trust you, you break their trust.
I forgive the brother who played the joke, but I don't forget that the brother deliberately lied to me.
If he lied one time, when will the next lie come?
Forgiveness is given to all, but forgetfulness can only be given to the man who repents.
The liar cannot be given trust until he repents.
God will forgive and forget our sins only when we repent.
Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,” Acts 3:19
Until this man repents publicly, I will never believe him the same way as before and I will always be suspicious and on my guard.
Playing an April Fool's Day joke on somebody makes you the fool, as well as the people who believed in you.
You expose yourself as a liar when you do this.
You expose yourself as untrustworthy when you do this.
Imagine if God told a lie every three hundred and sixty-five pages in the Bible and then said “Just kidding!”.
We would all know God was a liar if that happened.
Even if there was one single lie in the Bible, and God said “Just kidding!”, the entire Bible would be a fake.
But God is not a liar.
God hates liars, and all liars will have their part in the lake of fire.
“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8
Brothers, this morning at 3 am I repented for the one time I told an April Fool's Lie on Bold & Determined.
For telling a lie and then laughing about it, brother, I am sorry.
I won't do it again and I ask that you forgive me.
As God as my witness, I wish to never tell a lie ever again.
Even a small lie.
May the Lord Jesus have mercy on me if I ever slip.
Some of our dear readers were waiting for an “April Fool's Day” joke from me this year, and a return to the old ways.
Brothers, I can assure you, the old man is dead.
He was crucified with our Lord and his body of sin was destroyed.
Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.” Romans 6:6
I was reborn in Christ and am no longer a slave to sin.
In Jesus Christ, all can be forgiven.
In Jesus Christ, all can be reborn.
In Jesus Christ, all your sins can be forgotten.
But you must make the effort to go to Him…
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Mathew 7:7-8
Praise Jesus, hallelujah!
I went searching for Jesus and He found me.
I was washed clean in the blood of Jesus.
I was forgiven by Jesus.
You can be too, brother.
You can be too.
Call upon His name, brother.
Call upon His name…
“Save me Lord Jesus!
Save me, Lord!
Thank you, Lord.
May God bless you, my dear brothers.
And if you seek Him with repentance, that's exactly what He will do…
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” Malachi 3:11
Hallelujah and amen.
Written and declared at Wichita on the second day of April, in the year of the incarnation of our Lord two thousand and twenty.
